This project was an exciting opportunity to enhance my skills in React Native, Expo, and Redux, as well as to create innovative authentication that added significant value to the car rental system.
One of the highlights of this project was the implementation of an authentication system inspired by IFOOD, which allowed users to be validated through their phone numbers and receive confirmation codes via WhatsApp. Additionally, this project would not have been possible without the collaboration of a friend who helped me with authentication on the backend, making it even more rewarding and reinforcing the importance of collaboration in software development.
Overall, this project was an exciting opportunity to enhance my skills in React Native, Expo, and Redux, as well as to create innovative authentication that added significant value to the car rental system.

- The problem
- Signing up for a car rental on mobile is usually a friction-heavy form, and Brazilian users are far more comfortable confirming who they are over WhatsApp than through email.
- My approach
- I built the mobile app in React Native and Expo with Redux Toolkit, and implemented iFood-style authentication that validates users by phone number with confirmation codes delivered over WhatsApp, working alongside a friend who built the backend.
- The outcome
- A rental app whose sign-up matches how people here actually verify themselves, and a real step up in my React Native, Expo and Redux experience.
